UNDP RR meeting with Supreme Council for Women:
 

UNDP Resident Representative, Sayed Aqa, met with the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Ms. Hala Al Ansari and congratulated her on her appointment wishing her continued success. During the meeting key activities planned under the joint UNDP/SCW women empowerment programme were discussed and implementation timelines agreed upon in order to build upon the successes achieved in 2010. It was agreed that the partnership between the SCW and UNDP would be further strengthened, as well as that with other UN agencies and coordination with national NGOs would continue. Ms. Al Ansari emphasized on the need for coordinated UN support to SCW and urged that all UN agencies’ support to SCW be coordinated under the programme signed with UNDP. She expressed the Government commitment to mainstream gender issues and explained that a plan of action for gender mainstreaming, that includes gender budgeting and establishing an “equal opportunities unit”, is prepared.

Also present at the meeting were Firas Gharaibeh, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative, and representing the Council; Ms. Dawieh Al Alawi, Mr. Ezzideen Almoayyed, Shaikha Azza Al Khalifa and Mr. Mohamed Faris.
